Forging a Future of Prosperity

For over 300 smallholder farmers—70% of whom are women—we are turning the tide from subsistence to sustainable enterprise.

Economic Impact

Cultivating Prosperity & Financial Independence

Economic empowerment is our cornerstone. We dismantle financial barriers by securing fair prices through collective bargaining, unlocking capital via our women-led SACCO, and creating stable local employment. This creates an ecosystem where farmers move from subsistence to surplus.

Increased Income and revenue.

The cooperative provides better prices for small holder farmers produce, thus improving house hold income.

Increased Job opportunities.

Within the Cooperative values, over 300 jobs have been created among small holder women farmers.

Increased Access to Credit.

Through KDWS membership small holder farmers are able to access friendly financial services such as loans and credit which are used to invest in their farms.

Social Capital

The engagement of farmers in the activities of the Cooperative has not only fostered social connections but increased networking opportunities among farmers.

Environmental Impact

Farming in Harmony with Nature

We are deeply committed to promoting sustainable agricultural practices that increase yields today while protecting our natural resources for generations to come, ensuring a resilient food system.

Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA):

We provide dedicated training in CSA techniques, including soil and water management, empowering farmers to adapt to environmental challenges and mitigate risks.

Nourishing the Soil:

We encourage the use of organic manures over chemical fertilizers, which has demonstrably improved soil health and agrobiodiversity across our cooperative's land.

Protecting Resources:

Through collective action, we promote wetland conservation and resource management on our 640 acres, protecting critical water sources and reducing environmental risks.

Social Impact

Building a Stronger Community

Our ultimate goal is a healthier, more empowered society. We invest in people, fostering social change that ripples through families and communities.

Cultivating Leadership:

Participation in the cooperative, especially the SACCO, boosts women's confidence, leading them to take up key leadership roles on our committees and in their communities.

Subsistence to Enterprise:

Training over 400 farmers in financial literacy and entrepreneurship shifts their mindset from subsistence to enterprise, empowering them to manage their farms profitably.

Quality Education and Healthcare

Increased income directly translates to parents providing quality education and healthcare for their children, breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty.

Stories of Change

Here's how our partnership with farmers creates tangible, life-changing impact, told in their own words.

 A member of KDFCSL
"The cooperative has empowered us to take control of our livelihoods. As a woman, getting a loan was impossible. But through the KDFCS women's SACCO, I secured a loan to expand my coffee garden with the high-yield seedlings they provided. After my first big harvest, the cooperative's direct market connection ensured I got a premium price for my beans."

"Selling raw maize to middlemen meant low and unpredictable prices. Joining the cooperative gave me access to their milling machine and training on post-harvest handling. Now, I produce high-quality maize flour, and KDFCS provides a stable market with a premium price. This has brought real security to my family and allows me to plan for the future."
